When Mary McCarty was introduced to permanent makeup, she thought, “although beautiful, that has to be the most invasive and painful procedure ever!” Her desire to help other women enhance their beauty was inspired by a breast cancer survivor. After her surgery, this woman would not look at herself in the mirror until she had a beautiful design of flowers tattooed on her breasts instead of the usual areola/nipple tattoo. Because of her artistic background, Mary became interested in helping women love their bodies through cosmetic tattoo. She enrolled in the internationally known American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics and studied pigment implantation procedures, medical tattooing, anesthetics and sterilization.
